Slug Fest

The Rams played in their first of, I believe, three tournaments (over the season) this past weekend.

And they did amazing against these AA boys!

They made it to the semi-finals and essentially captured third place since the team that beat them went on to claim second place/runner-up in the tournament, behind a team that includes one of Tyler's classmates.

Did I mention they were playing up at least two divisions?!?

These boys of summer are ranked too low in their division, basically annihilating every team they play!

They should be playing at least AA but are playing in the unranked non-A leagues, which is two below AA. The field bases rankings on player stats and team stats, so next year this team is guaranteed a higher ranking among the divisions.

This tournament was a lot of fun.

They won the first game 17-8, but lost the second 7-13.

The second team was put together specifically for the tournament; you could tell because they all had different hats. Rumor is they are used to kid pitch.

The Rams won the third game 11-1 and lost the second 1-9 to the second-place team. That score should have been closer but bad calls and a scared teenage umpire made it a different story.

We spent a lot of time at the ball field, but it was fun getting to know the other moms and parents. It was fun to see the boys laughing and improving - and beating teams they were sure they wouldn't be able to beat.

It's funny how a uniform can intimate another team!

It was fun to see the boys build up their self-confidence, not only in winning but in their field presence and where they play (Tyler is the first baseman).

They are ready to take on the world, and not just their division where their scores are in the 30s and the others are getting 6 or less runs.

We can't wait for the next tournament. Bring on summer!
